Walk in the rains

While shopping for stuff the other day we saw these really cute raincoats for kids, and picked up one for Ria, a cheerful yellow-green one with Tinkerbell in the forest. She is very happy with her new raincoat, and wanted to wear it out in the rains ever since we got it. So today evening when it was raining, but not too heavily, I figured it would be a good time to take her for a small walk. We walked around in our building campus, her in her raincoat, me holding an umbrella. She was really happy, and held my hand and kept chatting about a lot of stuff. Every once in a while raindrops would fall on her nose and tickle her and she stopped and rubbed her nose on my palm. She looked so cute doing that! Somehow it was such a happy feeling, just me and her walking around in the rains, holding hands and chatting. Eventually after doing three rounds of the building campus, she wanted to venture out and go get some cheese balls. So we went to the neighbourhood shop, which she calls her “chips ka dukaan”, and got her stuff. And then I brought her back, one happy kid holding on to her pack of cheeseballs.

Annual Day @school

We attended Ria’s first Annual Day at school and first stage performance today evening. The event we attended was specifically for pre-primary kids, so all the performances were by adorable little kids who looked really cute on stage. Playgroup kids, of course were the youngest of the lot, and they came on stage with all their teachers and just did their own thing with music playing in the background. Some were dancing a bit, others jumping, walking around, waving at times or just looking around, but they all looked so cute – little ones in their white costumes. Ria did her bit of waving and dancing for a while, then started getting a bit cranky, I could make out from her body language that she was asking her teacher to pick her up (I asked her later and she said that she didn’t like the dim lights around when the curtains were down and so was apprehensive of being there). The playgroup lot weren’t on stage for too long of course, but I must say that the teachers had really done a wonderful job of getting all those little kids to come up on stage and do their thing. Once their piece was over we went and picked them up backstage, changed them and brought them to the audience area. Then we went on to watch the rest of the show, which had performances by Nursery, Jr KG and Sr KG students. Ria was having fun too, clapping to the music every now and then. At the end of the 2 hour event, she was really tired and slept off as soon as we got into the car. Cameras were not allowed at the venue, so no pics of the event yet, but post the winter vacations the school would give out DVDs of the event recorded by their official photographer.
