Happy Teachers day ’12

Teachers day was celebrated today at school. Ria spent all of last afternoon making greeting cards for her two teachers at school. In the morning she woke up a little under the weather (nothing serious just that lazy gloomy rainy day syndrome). Somehow we got her ready but she refused to have her breakfast and wanted me to pick her up. So I pick up both Ria and Ira and ferry them to the car. She’s sniffling and not wanting to go to school. Mamma talks to her and discusses the cards she has made for her teachers. Slowly she comes around, almost. We reach school and wading through the traffic deposit the mutt at the gate. She’s openly crying now (and this is like once a year rare) so mamma goes to check if we should maybe take her back. But guess what?! Selma, her teacher from nursery (last year) is at the bottom of the stairs managing the kids as they arrive at school. Sonali tells me that she actually picked up Ria just like she has done so often in the past year whenever Ria has been this way and otherwise too. Selma maam herself is no wrestler, quite petite infact, and our mutt is almost 17kilos now …we were left wondering “kab tak isko godi mein class leke jaayegi bechaari”…. well I guess for parents and teachers kids will always be kids.

Ria gave the cards to her current teachers though she did wish she could’ve also met Koeli & Sarita maam from play group, Namita from nursery, luckily she did get to meet Selma.

Once we’re older we realize school is an amazing place. Out of school we keep going back to meet the people who we grew up with, the teachers and friends who shaped us into what we are today. Happy teachers day to all of Rias’ teachers, as well as mine.
